Belly Shots

Christian's friend from College, James Steed, came down to Tahoe and took some maternity pictures for us. We really appreciate his kindness and generosity with his time! There were a ton of great shots but here are a few just to give you an idea of how big I'm getting!! Thanks James!!

Sweet Baby

I had an amazing baby shower that my sister Valerie threw for me last weekend. The theme was "Sweet Baby"! There were tons of bright colors and beautiful decorations. She made delicious homemade deserts and I have to say it was the sweetest baby shower I have ever been too! =)
Here are some pictures to give you a little taste test of what amazing memories I will take away from that day. Thanks to all who came and helped celebrate Caleb!

Caleb Update

We chose the name Caleb because:
1#: As soon as we heard it..... it fit =)
2#: Caleb was a man who "followed God wholeheartedly" and that's what we are praying our son will be known for as well.
3#: Caleb mean BOLD.... I see our son being strong, courageous and bold just like his father =)
We chose Jonathon as his middle name because that's Christian's middle name and we love it.
Caleb Jonathon Edwards

I am entering my last week of my second trimester. I can't believe how fast this pregnancy is flying by! I still feel really good and I love feeling Caleb move around. We started working on his bedroom a couple weeks ago. I wanted to wait until it was finished to post pictures but I couldn't wait. Christian did a great job coming up with the idea for the painting and the wood trim. I can't wait to see what it looks like completely finished!

10 Year Reunion and Square Dancing Dresses

10 years!! I can't believe it! It seems like just yesterday we graduated from high school. We had tons of fun catching up on old times and I loved introducing Christian to everyone. =) Here are some pics from the night....

This is my favorite picture of the night! Cody has not changed a bit! Jenn and I love him tons and have great memories with good ol' Cody Feiler =) I couldn't resist adding this pic of Kasey at Kelsea's Lunch in Grass Valley.
I'm defiantly catching up!!! Baby Liam and Baby Caleb can't wait to meet each other!
My family drove down to Southern California this week to attend my Grandma Ginny's funeral. It was fun to hear the amazing things she did in her life. She was such a great Grandma and I will miss her tons! I will always remember how beautiful she was in her Square Dancing dresses!

24 weeks and counting

It's really happening!!! =) This is the by far the most exciting time in our lives! Christian and I have never been happier. This will defiantly be a time in our life that we'll look back on with incredibly fond memories. This last weekend made Caleb's arrival seem even more real. We went to Babies R US to register. It was so fun! Our sister's Valerie and Kelsea came with us. Val had GREAT advice being a mom of three and it was really fun to get to register at the same time as Kels. Christian was most excited about getting to toys for Caleb..... somehow I didn't think we needed a potty shaped as a truck quite yet. =) Christian thought the truck noises coming from the potty would have Caleb wanting to use it by 6 months.
My mom is a avid Ross shopper and got this amazing deal on this winter jumper, which I thought was SOOOOOO cute! Caleb is ready for the snow! She has been spoiling Kelsea and I, she makes a very good Gra-ma!

We are so blessed to have such a giving family! Valerie gave us Landon's (her youngest baby boy) baby clothes and shoes. I was so excited to get home and sort through everything!! The hat to the left she just bought for Caleb (I want to get a matching one for Christian and I!) Check out the tiger shoes! SO CUTE!
I love baby clothes!! Thanks Val..... We couldn't have done it without you!

Christian has been working so hard on Caleb's room. It looks SO good! I'm so excited to post about it but I'm going to wait until it's done to show the whole process. Stay tuned!

Tahoe Girls and Grady's arival

Fall is one of my favorite seasons so when I set out this morning; hot coffee in hand, cool crisp air blowing and the orangey red leaves floating around me I had to give credit to God for the perfect start to an amazing day! I met my friends Rebecka (far left) and Jenny(hot pink shirt) and we set off for a breakfast cruise on the Tahoe Gal. It was SOOO fun! We met up with a bunch of women from our church and sailed the shores of west Lake Tahoe while eating a delicious homemade breakfast. I love that I'm making such good friends up here! Below is a group of girls that I slowly started to get to know because we are all at the same stages in life, but have become good friends with because of their amazing fun loving hearts for Jesus.

Grady's much anticipated arrival is here!!! Jenny has such an easy delivery which has given me hope for Caleb's due date. =) He is SO cute.... and SO tiny!! When I got to the hospital Jenny was already up and smiling. She is one amazing mama! Becky met me at the hospital and I got to see her in her 8th week! There is only one baby, which I'm bummed about but I'm sure she's breathing a sigh of relief =)

Third year at Bliss

For the past three years my parents have been reserving campsites at D.L. Bliss to celebrate Chris's birthday. It's been a favorite spot and a tradition for Christian's side of the family for many generations. We love to go and spend time with our families. Here are a few pictures from our weekend!

Softball

Christian and I spent Labor Day Weekend in South Lake Tahoe with my sister and her family. It was a lot of fun to see Billy play softball and hang out with his side of the family.

We were able to stay at Linnette's (Christian's sister) cabin and enjoy a mini vacation for a couple of days. It was fun to spend the night just the two of us! We played bocce ball, watched the fire works from South Shore, took Dixie swimming in the lake, bbq'd an amazing dinner and relaxed in the hot tub (don't worry I just had my feet in!).

We're having a.......!!!

The farther along I get in this pregnancy the more amazed I am. Feeling our baby move and wiggle inside me is breathtaking. I feel so blessed by God's gift of this child! I have always wanted to describe in some way the deep love between Christian and I and the way that God has twined us together as ONE..... now I can.... every time I feel what we have made together move inside of me!

When we went to the doctor yesterday and found out what we were having I couldn't believe it! I was caught off guard and excited all at the same time. When we were leaving I asked Christian how he felt...... "Overwhelmed!" he said. I couldn't have said it better myself. We are SO overwhelmed! Overwhelmed with joy, love, excitement, fear, relief, anxiety, happiness! Every possible feeling has passed through me, overflowing my heart with fulfillment!

God's gift to us for our first child is.................................................................................

A SON!!

We caught this sneaky little chipmunk stealing our minnow bait!
Christian and I got up early Sunday morning to watch the sun rise.

He couldn't help dropping a line in the water =)

My job was to cast the minnow net and bait the hook..............which I failed miserably at! I couldn't quite get a hold of those slippery little suckers!

My sister and I are 3 weeks apart and I have LOVED being pregnant with my sissy! Kelsea found out what she is having last Friday..... it's a boy! We are so excited for her! I have about three more weeks to go before we find out what baby Edwards is. I can't wait, I'm so excited! The doctor thinks it's a girl because the heart rate was 157 at my last appointment. I felt the baby for the first time and it was AMAZING! It made everything so real and special. I can't wait to feel him/her again!

Girls Weekend

I kissed Christian goodbye Friday at 3:00am and told him to be careful!! He was heading off for a fun filled weekend backpacking with the boys. It's funny how it takes our husbands setting off on their own to get the old high school girls together. We are sooooo lucky that all of our very unique husbands all get along, and would want to spend time together without us! =) Because of their trip it inspired us to get together for our own girls weekend. I can't remember the last time we hung out with out them... high school maybe?! Here are a few pictures of our weekend. We did what we do best... talk, cook, talk, eat, talk, relax, laugh, and talk. So many memories- so little time =)

Nap time! Gabe was a trooper. The only guy in a house full of girls... he loved it =)

The pregnant women had to cheers with our sparkling apple cider!
Heather was a BBQ's Queen!

Story time!
Bella, your such a poser! =)

Youglife + prego update

Saturday night we had a bunch of kids over for a bbq. Our plan was to lure them into going to camp this summer. It worked!! They are really excited! Please pray God will totally bless these kids and that they will open their hearts to everything God has to say to them that week!

This is a funny video of a couple of my favorite girls in younglife. I guess you would have to know their personalities to appreciate how funny this truly is! =)

Pregnancy Update:

On Friday I will be 8 weeks!! Yeah! I can't believe how slow it's going! Not because I'm not completely enjoying each second!! I just can't wait to be able to feel and look pregnant =) This baby is already such a special and amazing part of our lives. I feel so much more for him/her everyday! I'm not feeling sick at all but I do get find myself hitting a exhaustion wall a couple times a day! I am also having pretty bad cramping, which my sister assures me is normal. Thanks sissy! =) I know it's to early but I swear I have a baby bump already =) I can only feel it when I am cramping and then my abdomen gets really hard and I can feel a small bump really low on my belly! The first time I felt it it was sooooo amazing! I made Christian feel it ten times that night. I'm changing my mind everyday on if I think it's a boy or girl. Most of the time I am leaning towards boy (Mother's intuition) but I will be soooo happy with either! I have my first doctors appointment on Monday! We are going to be able to hear the heart beat!! I'm so excited! Stay tuned for more updates next week!

The Best Valentines Day Ever!

Waking up to someone you love so much and knowing that they are yours forever.... is unexplainable! Too excited to sleep Christian woke me up Saturday morning with his first valentines gift. We had coffee time in our PJ's and talked about all of our past Valentines Day adventures. We spent a couple hours on the phone wishing everyone in our families Happy Valentines Day and even a couple birthday wishes as well! Then we decided to go for a walk with Dixie in the snow. Nothing like a winter wonderland to set the romantic mood!
I wanted to show off my snow angel skills to my sweetheart but.... Dixie thought she could do a better job and jumped all over me to prove it!
Dixie is soooo much fun in the snow! We can not get her to hold still for a second. She has even learned how to slid down a snow mound by herself! We are so proud =)

I started breakfast when we go back. I wanted to try something new.... it didn't exactly turn out the way I had hoped.....

Christian decided he wanted to cook me dinner. He wanted to make beer can chicken, his specialty
Usually he uses smaller game hens instead of a whole chicken so he wasn't prepared for......
the whole chicken to catch on fire! He managed to singe his eyebrows and the front of his hair. At this point I was laughing to hard to help..... I decided to take pictures instead =)

I decided to make a blueberry pie for desert.... it turned out pretty good! here's the recipe!

Ingredients
5 cups fresh blueberries
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon sugar
Directions
1SPRINKLE berries with lemon juice; set aside.
2FIT half of pastry in a 9-inch pieplate according to package directions.
3COMBINE 1 cup sugar and next 3 ingredients; add to berries, stirring well.
4Pour into crust (I make my own crust but to save time you can buy the premade pastry crust at the store and it's just as good), and dot with butter.
5Roll out remaining pastry on a lightly floured surface; roll gently with rolling pin
6Place crust over filling; seal and crimp edges.
7Cut slits in top of crust to allow steam to escape.
8Brush top of pie crust with beaten egg, and sprinkle with 1 teaspoon sugar BAKE at 375° for one hour 9Cover edges with aluminum foil to prevent overbrowning
10Serve with vanilla ice cream, Christian's favorite!

My Birthday Present!

My birthday is just around the bend and Christian being the most amazing husband that he is wanted to get a head start on my birthday present. When he asked me what I wanted I didn't hesitate for a second.... a new dining room table light! I wanted something simple that would go with the mountain cabin feel... Christian wanted something that was more manly. Anything was better than that old 70's balloon chandelier! Yuck!
We found the perfect compromise at Lowes and we able to use the last of our wedding gift certificate and a 10% off coupon to get a great deal! I love birthdays!

Christian and I went snowboarding/skiing for the first time this winter last Sunday. Christian was awesome! He even managed to do a flip (accidentally of course!) and landed on his shoulder! Ouch! I have to say I was really nervous on the first run and had to take my ski's off and walk halfway down the mountain. But after that Christian took me to the bunny slopes and I had a great time! Slowly but surely is what I say. Christian keeps telling me that by the end of the season I'll be a pro.... hmmmm

Merry Christmas!

Saturday, December 20, 2008

For Christmas Christian and I bought each other snowshoes! We have been looking forward to using them for the past two weeks. Finally this afternoon we set aside some time to hike to Boca Lake and test them out. The weather was perfect and the shoes worked great!
"How do you shoes work Sweetheart?!"
Dixie had even more fun than we did! She LOVES the snow and bounces around us like a deer, shoving her face in and throwing her head up sending the snow flying! The whole trip she was running ahead and then running back to us, egging us to go faster.....

.............So I tackled her to the ground!

We reached the Lake just as the sun was going down

And got to enjoy one of God's Amazing Masterpieces together, He was
defiantly at his best!

Christmas Tree Hunting

We decided this year since we lived in Truckee we had to go out into the forest to go cut down our very own Christmas Tree. We got up early Saturday morning and loaded up our truck with our saw, two cups of hot coffee and Dixie. It was quite the hike. Finding the perfect tree took a lot long than expected, but defiantly worth it! Here are a few pictures from our Christmas Tree hunting adventure

The Gathering

What an amazing and relaxing weekend! My mom put together a PRE-Thanksgiving weekend with The Edwards, The Kerrs and The Halversons. Mama and Papa rented a huge cabin in Truckee and put together a variety of games, sing-a-longs, meals, arts and crafts projects and family activities that made this last weekend one of my favorites! We had ping pong tournaments, went on hikes, played with the little ones and ate some REALLY good food! What an amazing family Christian and I have! We are so blessed that we can all get together and have such good laughs! Below are some pictures of our weekend. I will post more as I gather them.

Proud to be an American!

We voted!! What an amazing right we have as Americans to be a part of this historic event! Christian and I believe whole-heartedly that the Lord is our supreme leader, He will place who He chooses in authority. We trust in Him and find comfort knowing He is in control.

We woke up on Election day to a winter wonderland! I'm listening to Christmas music already! W

Air Lock/Tile job

We were able to find some slate tile in sale in Minden on Craigslist for the air lock. We were pretty excited about it because everywhere else that Christian looked it was twice as expensive. The only bad part about it was that we had to drive an hour to get there! Saturday night Christian took me out to dinner and the movies (Fun Date!) and we decided to stop by Homedepot to check out some doors. While we were there we found the same tile for even cheaper! The Lord totally provides, He is amazing! What a blessing, not only were we able to save a long trip but we were able to spend less money and more time out on the town.

Breaking Ground

As you all know we bought a "fixer upper" cabin in Truckee this last summer. Christian is an amazing Carpenter and can take on any project big or small. We have been dreaming and planning what we are going to do to transform our house into a home. We broke ground today! We are starting with the entertainment area. This weekend Christian tore down three walls and built the frame for our new, bigger and better built-in entertainment center! The shelves will have to go up slowly as we get extra money but it exciting to get our house project under way. We also started the air lock, which is a little mud room as you walk into the house to keep the heat in during the winter. We plan on putting french doors in the giant gap you see between each wall. Christian is going to tile the air lock next weekend. We'll keep you updated as the renovation continues!
BEFORE: The entertainment center went on the next to the fireplace.
Before: There was a wall separating the entry from the garage entry and another wall separating the garage entry from the laundry room
Christian let me do the first smash into the walls! No turning back now!
He tore down the rest of the walls....

Then he built new walls!
He put in new electrical stuff.....

We put the old entertainment center where the new one is going until we get wood for the built in part.
It's going to be ALOT bigger than our old entertainment center!
Christian is the BOMB!!

To ski or snowboard...... that is the question!

Snowboarding trip 2007

One of the MANY reasons why Christian wanted to move to Truckee is because of his love for snowboarding. He LOVES it! He wanted me to LOVE it...... but every time he took me I ended up crying at the top of the mountain!

Experience one: Christian and I had just met and he invited me to Linnette's Cabin to "get to know me better". I wasn't sure if I liked him yet but I was defiantly interested. Since I didn't have any snow gear I ran into Pac Sun and bought the first thing I saw..... big mistake! Everything was way to big and my pants practically fell off the first time off the lift. By the end of the day I was so uncomfortable and frustrated. Christan was so amazing and never left my side. He kept encouraging me and telling me I was doing good.... I, in turn, yelled at him to leave me alone and started crying. (I have NO idea why he stuck around after that!)

Experience two: We had just got engaged and I wanted to surprise Christian with a snow weekend for his birthday. Our friends, JOE and HOLLY and BRANDON and JENNY all came up to Linnette's cabin for the weekend! It was so fun! However, I STILL sucked at snowboarding and kept falling down. But I was determined not to ruin the trip for Christian, so when I fell super hard and Christian asked if I was Okay.... I said "Yep!" But when we got home and I couldn't move my wrist my mom suggested I get X-ray's. I had broken my wrist.... and it hurt bad! The worst part about it was that I had to wear a cast for my wedding! Or I was suppose to anyways.... =)

This year I decided I am going to ski instead. We volunteered at the local Ski Swap and got some really awesome stuff at a good price! We decided to practice putting our gear on as soon as we got home. Squawlly World here we come!

Weekend in Carmel

Christian and I drove down to Oakdale Friday night and spent the evening with Mama and Papa. We got up early the next morning and hopped in the car with the Sales for a fun filled drive to Carmel. We all squashed cozily into the Hyatt suite and had one big slumber party! Saturday we got to celebrate Uncle Bob's arrival into Heaven and seeing Jesus! I've never been to a more joyful memorial. His life was celebrated by his family and friends. He had no regrets and touched so many people! Christian and I pray that we can live our life in that way!
We went to the aquarium and Christian decided his next job was going to be the scuba diver that feeds the fish at the 11o'clock showings.
We walked around downtown Carmel after the funeral. Mom and I had our high heels on so our amazing hubby's splurged and bought us some reef flip flops!
I always wanted to be a part of the Edwards family! =)
Landen and I bonded at the aquarium! He is so cute and sweet!
Uncle Christian loves his nieces!
What a cute couple!

One Fine Day

We were suppose to backpack into Rubicon Reservoir this weekend but found out just in time that a huge storm was coming in this weekend! We were glad that Dad decided to come up and spend the weekend with us anyways! We woke up Saturday morning and decided to brave the weather by taking a bike ride into Cold Springs Canyon. It WAS cold, wet, and fun!

We warmed up by the fire for the rest of the day and then Dad took us out to dinner at 50/50 Brewery, which was a real treat!
The next day we were on our bikes again! It's always a non stop adventure when you get the Edwards men together!

Richie's First Hair Cut

BEFORE...

AFTER...

Our friends Rich and Lindsey Staniford came up to visit us this weekend and we felt so special that we got to experience Richie's first hair cut! We also had a blast playing spousology! They've been married four months longer so had a big lead on us.... that's the ONLY reason why they could have won! =0) We woke up Saturday morning and had coffee time enjoying the funny stories of our nightly adventures. Lets just say, between our dogs, baby Richie, Christian's snoring, my coughing, and poor sick Richard's blind sleep walking none of us got a good night sleep! But we made up for it by a group trip to Cabelas! We can't wait for their next trip up!

Hi Dee HO! A Kasey Adventure!

Happy Birthday Dad! We had so much fun celebrating Dad's 66th on a beach campsite at DL Bliss. We're hoping to make it a yearly tradition! We went kyacking, snorkeling, running, biking, hiking, played cards, sang songs, and just relaxed! What a great way to spend time together. Kasey had her first camping experience and she was the perfect moutian baby. Here are some pictures of her adventures....

Labor Day Weekend

Christian and I were really lucky to have our family pick our hometown from their annual "sisters retreat"! Our parents and our aunts and uncles rented a REALLY nice log cabin at the top of Tahoe Donor. We were able to visit them for coffee time and had two amazing dinners. They came to see our house and I decided it would be fun to make them a treat for when they got here! I made homemade pumpkin apple spice bread. It was really good but unfortunately Dixie thought so too and jumped up on the counter to finish off the leftovers!

We went to a BBQ at our new friends Rebekah and Dave's house. It was really fun! We played horseshoes and Mad Gab!

Sand Harbor

We went snorkeling at Sand Harbor. I wasn't as daring as Christian who swam through underwater caves and chased the minnows around the rocks. He was so enthralled with the action underwater that he didn't realize that he was snorkeling so close group of people until he came up and found himself right in the middle of them!We witnessed our first lake arrest too! A couple boat sheriffs surrounded our beach and took away two underage kids. It was an action packed day and we barely made it home before the rain clouds rolled in. There's nothing like being tucked away in a cabin during a summer mountain rain storm!

Happy Birthday Jenny!

I don't know why but for some reason our group CANNOT keep a secret. We tried to surprise Jenn with a birthday lunch but of course she found out! We had fun at Mimi's Cafe with the kiddo's. Half the time giggling and gossiping, the other half trying to keep Gabe and Ava from escaping the from underneath the table. =) The next round of apple juice is on me!

Eating Out

We had so much fun with Olga this weekend! One of the main events was our night out on the town in Reno. We went to the Peppermill buffet and stuffed ourselves. Christian's goal was to fill up his plate six times..... he only made it to 5. =)

Grass Valley Fair

I haven't been to the fair in years!! Jenny, Becky and I walked around reminiscing about old high school memories and searching faces to see if we could recognize anyone from our hometown. We ran into our old Ag teachers (Mr. Kemp and Mr. Paash). We transformed from the sophisticated career/moms of the present to the giggly school girls of the past. I forget how much history you can share with someone growing up and the strong ties that the memories create to keep us together.

A River Ride

We parked at Squaw Valley and rode our bikes along the river to Lake Tahoe, stopping to jump in the river to cool off. Good workout, good scenery, good weather.... good trip!

Saturday Morning Bliss

We decided to get up early this morning and head out to Stampede to watch the sunrise. I had made homemade doughnut dough the night before so Christian woke up at 4:30am and cut out the shapes to cook them. He wanted to surprise me and have them done and ready to go with coffee so I could sleep in but I caught him banging pots in the kitchen and was to excited to go back to sleep.

We got out the door just in time! It was a beautiful way to start the day. I read my book and Christian was able to catch three fish! I even helped real one in!

We spent some time with God, reading from Mark, and learning about when Jesus calmed the storm.

"Immediately he spoke to them and said, 'Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid.' Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down." Mark 6:50
Isn't it amazing how our lives can seem crazy and unpredictable(like a storm)but Jesus is there with us the whole time and all we have to do is call out to Him and he will calm our hearts and and give us peace? He is good!!

It was the best morning we have ever spent together. They get better and better each day!

Our first camping trip in Truckee

Since moving to Truckee Christian and I have missed sharing a part of our lives with our awesome family. I want to create this blog as a way to stay in touch and let you in our special times here in Truckee!

I'll start with our first camping trip! After work a couple Friday's ago Christian decided that we should go camping. We packed up our sleeping bags, our marshmallow's, our dogs and we were off! We got to Stampede lake right before sunset and started a fire. We roasted hot dogs and ate potato salad for dinner. For desert we roasted marshmallow's and made some smokin' smores! YUM YUM! We stayed up really late for us....midnight...seeing who could scare each other the most with ghost stories (I think I won!) We played cards and talked about all the fun adventures to come! We LOVE being married, it's like having a best friend for life!

In the morning we woke up early for coffee time but I had a harder time getting up because of the late night!

So Christian sent Dixie after me.....

I made Monkey French Toast for breakfast! It's really good and really easy!
1 small ripe banana, peeled and sliced
1 tablespoon honey, plus some for drizzling
1/4 cup peanut butter
4 slices whole grain bread
2 eggs, beaten
A splash of milk
1 tablespoon butter

Preparation
Mash the banana with a fork and combine with honey and peanut butter.
Make two sandwiches with bread and monkey spread. Dip sandwiches in eggs beaten with milk.Cook on a griddle or skillet in warm butter until golden on each side and cooked through. Drizzle with a little extra honey and serve!
